Last Minute Summer Fun

If you live in the northern hemisphere, you may already see signs of fall starting to appear.  Here, I notice some leaves starting to turn yellow and the days are definitely getting shorter.  It’s time to make sure to fit in those special summer activities while you still can.

Wait to Decorate

I find the best way to redesign a space is to make decorating the last step and to take that step after a long pause.

Once the pieces of furniture are in place, rather than immediately putting decorative pieces back where they were, I think it is smart to first spend some time in the space with the absence of those things and decide if they still fit and feel right.

New Desk = New Blog

Like many home based businesses, I have been working from a make-shift desk from leftover furniture. A combination of an oak dining room table and a long fold down table served me well for a few years, and met most of my needs, but was not my ideal long-term solution. I have a great office space and all the necessary gadgets, I just needed a better desk.

A helpful way to prevent being buried by possessions is making sure that the amount of stuff leaving your house is equal or greater than the amount of stuff that comes in. Think of all those groceries, shopping bargains, special gifts, stationary, packaging etc. that overload you as you come in the front door each week.  I bet there is less stuff leaving and if so, you’re literally filling up the house!
